SITREP

The lodgings in Greenville were across the parking lot from a Cracker Barrel. I had a nice bacon cheeseburger and cider for supper. No beer on the menu and I'm not gonna jump in BillyBob and ride around looking for one. This ain't the old days. continental breakfast was good enuf in the morning too.

Day 14 PRE Check

Checked all the fluids and tires. Topped off the radiator with coolant and steering gear box with STP. No new drips at the rear tires that I can see. Told Mother to head for St. Augustine and got set for another hot day.

Enterprise is where the boss's cobra, Big Red, was built. A couple of months ago, I ordered air filter caps for the injector stacks. Haven't received them yet but my credit card wasn't charged either. Since I happened to be here, I thought I might just drop by the shop and pick up a set. Stopped in a parking lot and tried to get a wireless connection for Firefly, my laptop. No joy. I called the office back in Boca and the boss's assistant, Virginia, brought up the builder's website for me. Address is a P.O. Box but there is a phone number. I called and got the builder on the phone. He still has the order but his supplier isn't getting the parts to him either. Oh well.

Not long after we entered the state, Mother put us on I10 and kept us there until just after we crossed I75. Then it was two-lane blacktop again. When we were close to St Augustine, I pointed Mother a bit off-course to Orange Park for lodgings. A good thing too. On the way to the lodgings, I blew thru a four-way stop. I wuz half thru the intersection before I saw my sign out of the corner of my eye. It was my mulligan because I was a block from a police station but no police were nearby for my screwup.

1. Date and Time May 30, 2008
about 5 PM *
2. Odometer about 32,650 *
3. Mileage about 400 *
4. Elapsed Time about 8 hrs *

* stats from here on out are WAG (wild ass guesses) 'cause they were written on scraps of paper and stuffed in my back pocket with gas receipts. First thing I did when I got home to the Krash Pad is wash those pants for something to wear to the cruise-in. The scraps of paper and receipts got washed too. Damnation!
