Day 22 SITREP

Today's leg is a short run to Uncle Tom and Aunt Marrianne's house in Melbourne, Florida. I don't have to book any more hotel reservations and I took my last continental breakfast. Got off to a leisurely start mid-morning.

Engage

Click to display large 331Kb image in separate windowI put Mother in passive mode and headed east to SR A-1-A. It's another great morning. I've experienced remarkably good weather during this entire roadtrip. My plan is to run down the beach road the whole way to Melbourne.

Click to display large 370Kb image in separate windowThis is a particularly nice ride. A-1-A is not as congested here as it in in my neck of the woods farther down the coast. When I make my beach runs at home, I go during early morning to avoid bumper-to-bumper traffic. That is not necessary here even tho' it's a saturday.

Click to display large 341Kb image in separate windowA-1-A turned across the Intracoastal Waterway above Titusville and merged with US 1 for awhile. I kept an eye out for the turn back to the coast because the signs are sparse and easy to miss. When I hit Titusville, it was raining. It continued to rain and when I finally saw the A-1-A sign I decided to remain on US 1 because of the rain did not look as if it was going to let up. It did let up by the time I arrived in Melbourne at one in the afternoon.

Day 22 POST Check

1. Date and Time June 30, 2007 1:00 PM
2. Odometer 24,855
3. Mileage 114
4. Elapsed Time 3 hrs, 15 minutes

Click to display large 372Kb image in separate windowWhen I was here on the first day, I promised my Uncle Tom and Aunt Marrianne that I would try to stop on the way back and stay overnite. We had hoped that my Cousin, Chris, and her family might come over from Orlando but they just returned from Europe and that meeting will have to wait until the next time. My Aunt and Uncle treated me to a steak dinner at a Texas Roadhouse and, once again, I went to bed with a full belly. The last time I stayed with them was when I was trying to escape Hurricane Erin and the storm followed me up the coast like a pied piper. It was much more quiet this time.
